It should never be about “the greatest good for the greatest number”. It should be about individual rights: life, liberty, and property. The platitude “greatest good for the greatest number” ignores the rights of individuals.

But if that’s the moral code you want to live by, then by all means go donated every last organ in your body right now. There are plenty of people who will die within the next week if they do not find an organ donor. So go save some lives. Kidneys, liver, heart, bone marrow, blood… just think, you could legitimately save FIVE people! I mean, you probably won’t survive, but one person dying is better than five, right? That’s the greatest good for the greatest number!
